Modern Day Audrey

Today's post is a style stealer. I'm going to show how I would style clothes from the UK highstreet to get a Modern day Audrey Hepburn look! I've styled three looks each based on an Audrey Hepburn classic film :) Hope you like!

Rather than take the classic black and pearls outfit from the film I chose my personal favourite, this magnificent pink ensemble! Hepburn pulls off this all pink outfit with princess like perfection!

Rose print dress - Topshop
Neon pink blazer - Topshop
Spiked headband - Asos
Hot pink skater dress - Oasis
Pastel pink peplum blazer - Boohoo
Pastel pink heels - Boohoo
Diamanté hair pin - Asos
Pastel pink lace socks - Topshop

I've chosen a selection of pieces from high street brands. The loud print on this Topshop classic prom dress really modernises a classic shape, pair with a neon blazer and a spiked tiara headband to add edge!

If you are looking for a more authentic Hepburn look, the pastel look is probably for you, I've chosen a skater shape hot pink dress and to set it off a cute pastel pink blazer with a peplum waist. Accessorise with a pair of chunky sandal heels, wear lace socks under these to add even more sweetness!

I love this film so much, and this outfit is so amazing and simple!
Cropped polo neck - Topshop
Black and white panel midi skirt - Topshop
White socks - Topshop
Platform loafers - Underground @Topshop
Black flat jelly loafers - Office
Loafer wedges - Nine West @KurtGeiger

For this outfit I've chosen a Topshop sleeveless cropped polo neck (it is just like the American Apparel one but a fraction of the price!) and a midi skirt to modernise the look a bit. The skirt has a white panelling detail along the sides which helps tie in the white socks better!

I've given three different options for shoes depending on how daring you're feeling.. If you are feeling mighty daring perhaps these huge Underground platform loafers are for you? I think they would look so cool with this sleek body fitting look! If, however, you are looking for a more classic, comfortable look, I would go for the  plain black Jelly loafer, these are only £28 from office and look very cute with the white sock. Last of all is the wedge loafers, for extra height and to keep your body looking tip top whilst wearing such a figure hugging outfit!

The 'Sailing' Sabrina look!

Shirt - h&m
Cotton shorts - h&m
Denim Shorts - h&m
Plimsolls - h&m
Cork flatforms - h&m

Not much modernising to be done here, such a great summer outfit!
I chose to select items purely from h&m for this look as its a great place to shop for summer basics!

I chose a check print shirt, be sure to do the buttons up halfway and tie at the waist a'la Audrey! I've given two different options for shorts, cotton or denim and two different options for shoes.. if you are actually on a boat maybe go for the cute classic plimsolls but I think these cork and white flatforms are so lovely!

That's all folks! Hope you liked this blogpost, make sure to comment (or follow!) if you did! I'll be back soon with a Marilyn inspired outfit post!

How To - TRENDS S/S 2013

Hey Guys,

Todays post is a 'How To', a series I'm going to be starting about the trends of the season and how to style outfits so that they look cool and on trend but still feel individual and easy to wear!

This post is all about S/S 2013!

STRIPES

Linear patterns took over the catwalk this season (See Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and Oscar de la Renta). A stand out contender for best pattern was the trusty old STRIPE. When it comes to patterned fabric my motto is GO BOLD or GO HOME, and so I have taken the stripe on with full vigour. Hitting another trend (MONOCHROME MADNESS) I stuck with black and white stripes.

When styling a striped outfit I like to mix vertical and horizontal to create a sort of optical illusion and really make a statement. When your patterns are so bold its best to go for simple shapes to create a clean silhouette and only add a pop of colour on the lips, maybe try a neon pink lipstick if you're wearing this out at night? Keep accessories simple and black and leave your stripes to do all the talking!

CANDY CRUSH

Pastel candy colours are back in full swing this Spring-Summer and I like to style mine with a bit of kitsch girlyness, like a tongue in cheek park avenue princess! Take Spearmint greens, frosty blues and pretty blush pinks and make a 'Marina and the Diamonds' style statement of your pastels. Collars and bows make the look sugar sweet and plastic style finishes bring up images of barbie! Another top trend seen everywhere on the catwalk were these embellished sunglasses, be it pearls or plastic flowers these are sure to top off your outfit with pastel perfect pizazz!

90's Grunge

Philip Lim's s/s 2013 collection spurred on a 90's grunge comeback which I absolutely love! For this look, the best advice is just to throw it together from what you have! Lacy and silk pyjama style tops or floral prints make a stark contrast against your boyfriends ripped jeans, tie a plaid shirt round your hips and you're ready to go! Clashing prints is encouraged and lazy knit jumpers are a must! All in all just have fun with it and make sure to mess up your hair a bit - this look is all about being easy going and careless!

Tsesay store - Kings Road, Chelsea

It's exciting to see the new Tsesay store open in Kings Road, Chelsea. Inspired by the vibrant city of New York the brand is upbeat, youthful and undeniably cool. The shop has an 'urban' loft feel to it, with exposed white brick, bare metal and brushed wood it has some really nice little features, such as a letter magnet wall where customers are invited to leave little notes. Extra treats to buy are scented soy candles crafted in Brooklyn and candy coloured silk notebooks with cover prints of Manhattan.

But now the bit I'm really interested in - the collection! I love the new spring summer line, it really represents that 'effortless cool' New York vibe, from laid back denim to slouchy silk in a print of city lights this collection really makes me swoon! I picked out my favourite pieces to show you:

The dungarees are adorable and, like many of the Tsesay designs, you can unbutton sections to make it into a top or trousers. So versatile! Haha.

I love this khaki and grey knit tee, a quirky cut for the normally quite classic form of textile! It is also amazingly soft.

Next is this coral jumper, it's just a really nice summery colour haha.

Last fav is this city lights printed silk top and maxi skirt a really nice night time outfit but would also look cool with biker boots and a denim jacket thrown on top for day time :)

The new Tsesay store is at 141 kings road and is defo worth a look if you're looking for something special for when the sun finally comes out in London.. Hopefully that's soon!! Fingers crossed!

Heres some outfits I put together for the cold spring days!

When the cold winds blow!

Hey guys! So, London is having a very cold moment and although the snow hasn't stayed long this week I thought I'd update my snow day outfit idea, if you are somewhere snowy, this ones for you, if you are in London - fingers crossed we won't need this till Christmas!!!

I wore two thick pairs of leggings with a woolly pair on top, topped with grey woolly socks and wellies! When wearing wellies I always rock them with a nice thick pair of knee high socks, not only because it looks cute, but also because wellies aren't the warmest of shoes! I also wore a shirt with a lace collar which pops out of my coat - it adds a little girlyness and 'put together ness' to the outfit! Next a thick aran knit sweater and top it all off with a cute thick winter coat and you're ready to go!

Makeup wise I like to wear a classic fifties look when it snows.. The red lipstick really pops when everywhere around is white, plus wearing the fifties makeup makes me feel like a 1950's Christmas card! Hahaha, anyway hope you like the outfit.

I'll update with a Spring look book video this weekend!
